A downloadable game

As part of the "Platforms for the Development of Computer Games" course, our team developed a classic Ludo game with a modern twist. Utilizing European rules, this Ludo game is designed for local multiplayer, allowing up to four players to connect via a LAN using their smartphones.

The game interface is based on Pepper's ghost hologram illusion technique in which image is projected so that it appears to be in front of the audience. It is achieved by using transparent pyramid made of plastic or glass that is placed over the screen that reflects on to the all four sides of the pyramid and then it appears to be in front of the viewer. The game is displayed from all four sides with different perspectives so up to 4 players can play and see and even change different perspectives.

You can see the DEMO in the video by F2S2 Project on Youtube:

F2S2 Project. (2017, October 30). F2S2 - Pepper’s Ghost Pyramid [Video]. YouTube.

Our setup is big TV that is mounted over big upside down pyramid. Game is ran on Linux PC and played with players using phones as controllers.

The game itself is based on german board game called Mensch ärgere Dich nicht that can play 2, 3 or 4 players. It is played by players dropping cube and which number it hits, that is the number of moves that this specific players peg can move forward. The winner is the one who moves all his pegs to his safe house.

Key Features:

  1. Local Multiplayer: Players connect to a local network with their smartphones.
  2. Web-Based Interface: Upon connecting, players access a web page showing the game lobby.
  3. Seamless Gameplay: Once four players join and select "Ready," they are presented with a controller interface to choose their game pieces and roll the dice.
  4. Holographic Display: The game utilizes the Pepper's Ghost illusion, projecting onto a pyramid glass to create a holographic effect visible from different angles.

This innovative approach brings a new dimension to traditional board games, blending classic gameplay with cutting-edge technology.
